Open Letter from Nay Pyi Daw Government Staff

Open letter from the Government Staff of Nay Pyi Daw, Burma.

We, Government staff from Nay Pyi Daw, wrote this open letter to the public because we want them to know the Truth about how much we are suffering. There is no freedom and security in Government staff life. We are just telling some of the things from the a lot things that we are facing.

The officers and the soldiers from the army who have Tuberculosis and Jaundice are transferred to civilian side without giving any medical treatment and there are grave danger to the civilian staff who are working in the Government Ministries to get infected by these contagious deceases.
These officers and soldiers also married to the civilian women government staff without getting any treatment. There are a lot of army personnel with TB now working at the government ministry. There is a danger of out break of TB in Burma

All the Government Ministry are just a Dump Yard of Military. All the officers/soldiers who failed the medical test and who are not qualified to become officer when they reach 40 are all transferred to the Civilian side and these officers/soldiers take all the good positions in the government office without any qualifications.

All the Food and Commodities Price at Nay Pyi Daw are very high and all the government staff cannot afford to eat proper food. Nobody come and solve this inflation which the government staff facing at Nay Pyi Daw, instead the Army personnel just came and took the good position from the Government office and take all the benefits for themselves.

If you look at the Main Market (Myoma Zay) at Nay Pyi Daw what they are selling is expensive foreign Liquor that no ordinary civilian can afford to drink. For example at Tha Pyay Kone market, Minister of Hotel and Tourism, major General Soe Naing own a shop which selling foreign liquors which General Soe Naing himself illegally possessed by unlawful ways. There are so many shops which are owned by others ministers in Nay Pyi Daw.
General Maung Aye sent the Director General of Budget U Khin Maung Lin to prison for corruption. Then we want to ask General Maung Aye, why he didn't dare to sent General Than Shwe and the other generals to Prison for corruption also?

General Than Shwe is wasting country budget by ordering to built roads at places where no one stay and which were not used by the any civilians and public. Everyone saw that every Saturday, General Than Shwe driving around these roads in 2 Black Toyota Land Cruiser with Tinted windows( so that nobody knows which car he is in) with big entourage behind him.
While government staff have to use very dangerous trailers car as a main transport, these high ranking officers from army are driving latest sedans. In the compound of Finance Minister U Soe Tha, No. 29, Mya Nan San Yar Street, Minister residential area, everyone from the main road can see 4 latest cars parking all the times.

Government staff have to pay very high taxi fare (50,000 kyats/3 hrs ) when they hire the taxi and you have to hire 3 hrs minimum and these taxi are operated by junta control business organization.

We like to request that when the UN human rights commissions come to Burma, Please come and check the below standard building which government staff are force to stay and those transportation which government staff have to take the risk of their life to use everyday at Nay Pyi Daw.

How can the country will development while all these high ranking junta general and their cronies corrupt like this?

We are ready to join with the public to fight against the unfair treatment and unfair system which are happening in our country.

There are still a lot of things, we like to tell the public and we will do so next time.

Burma Junta Army Troops Movement

Burma Army troops move into Karen state, one killed in clashThu 27 Dec 2007, reported by Joi Htaw, IMNA (Source Mon News)

Not less than 2,000 Burma Army troops marched to Karen State Kyainnseikyi Township and Three Pagoda Pass (TPP) areas where the Karen Nation Union has influence. A gun battle took place between the two sides at 4 pm in Thet-phyu-chung village in Kyainnseikyi Township yesterday killing one Burmese soldier and injuring two, sources from a cease-fire group in TPP said IMNA tried to contact a KNU leader to confirm the news but his telephone was not available.

The Burma Army troops are from Infantry Battalion (IB) No. 28, IB 403, Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 338, 339, 36 and 403, 405 and 406 which are under Military Operation Management Command No. 8. LIB No. 338, 339, IB No. 28 are active in Kyaik-Dein area, and 403, 405, 406 are in Pha-yar-ngou-tou area in Kyainnseikyi Township. IB No. 28 is operating in Myaing Thayar village, Three Pagoda Pass Township. There are already four battalions in Kyainnseikyi Township and Three Pagoda Pass Township and now troops are flocking to these territories because the junta wants the army in four more places in Mon and Karen ethnic areas.

A motorcycle trader said he met the soldiers on his way to Three Pagoda Pass border town and heard from a military officer that there were about 85 military trucks transporting the soldier and rations. The Burma Army's offensive in Karen Nation Union territory is to clear the opposition army group because in this area a railway project is coming up in 2008 from Three Pagoda Pass to Thanphyuzayart, according to source close to military in Three Pagoda Pass.

More over, the military regime plans to station an artillery battalion in Chung-zone village area, according to sources close to authorities in TPP.

MISSING:

"Happy: Thanks for sending the link of http://whoiswhoinburma.blogspot.com/2007/11/oh-great-wall-of-insein-prison.html which inturn linked me to the the link below:

This news was posted in DVB website on November 26, 2007 ( http://www.dvb.no/burmese/news.php?id=2945 )

Sayadaw U Gambiya's(Leader of Saffron Revolution) Father is still missing:

There was a news came out U Min Lwin, Father of Saffron Revolution Monks' leader, who was arrested in Insein Prison was missing.

U Min Lwin was arrested by Junta on November 12 when he went to Insein Prison to see his son because he was worring for him.

Daw Yae (wife of U Min Lwin) said: On November 16, she was allowed to sent parcel to Insein Prison for U Gambiya, U Min Lwin and Ko Aung Kyaw Kyaw(elder son of U Min Lwin and Daw Yae), where all of them were arrested but not allowed her to see all of them.

She said: "On 22 November, when she arrived back her home town "Meik Hti lar", very early in the morning(Dawn), the member of the police special investigation branch, came in informed that she got "permit" to meet." She also said: "it is no easy to go to "Meik Hti Lar and Yangon(where the Insein Prison is) and the transportation fee are very expensive for her and there are other things too."(probably harresment by junta people on the way).

But anyway she went there and found out All her parcel package for U Min Lwin was given back to her and was told by Prison authority that U Min Lwin was not in Insein Prison.

On November 26, her daughter who is living in Yangon, went to see U Min Lwin but Daw Yae said she didn't hear any news yet from her daughter that she had a chance to meet U Min Lwin or not. Daw Yae said she was now very worrying for her Husband becaue the authority(Junta) haven't gave any information about U Min Lwin.

She said she asked the Authority officially "where he(U Min Lwin) is and why they cannot giver her information about him". She said: U Min Lwin is 70 yrs old and got stroke 2yrs ago very seriously and oneside of his cheek was not in normal position anymore.

She said she was proud of her son U Gambiya for his participation in September Saffron Revolution.

She said: "I don't fell shame instead I feel proud. he didn't do for himself, for him he only need a "Tha Baik"(A black Bowl carried by monks to accpet the offering from people during their daily early morning roundabout procession), he doesn't need any other things at all. They(all the monks) did that not for them, not for their family, they did this for everyone. Because of he did this(Saffron Relvolution) for everyone, I am proud of myelf as a mother of good son.
Since she was not allowed to meet her son, Daw Yae wrote this poem by herself for her son Sayadaw U Gambiya with her tears.

(Original Burmese version you can read at the DVB website, the link mentioned above this post.)

I copy the English translation and reposted here. The poem (The English translation) was orginally posted by the following blog http://whoiswhoinburma.blogspot.com/2007/11/oh-great-wall-of-insein-prison.html where you can find others good article there.

Oh The Great Wall of Insein Prison (© Translated Version by Nay Chi U who translated the poem)
Direct translation of the Poem's Actual title name is "To My beloved Son U Gambiya" .. (Bay Dah)
Original Burmese Version you can read at DVB website: http://www.dvb.no/burmese/news.php?id=2945

At last I have arrived at the gate of Insein Prison because I was told that my son could be herewith the only hope I had in the world was to see my son's face, howeverI wasn't allowed Oh the Great Wall of Insein Prison.

Standing strongly cold hard and tall
Do you realise that you are separating the mother and the son?
I beg you for I have come from a long long way
Please could I see my dear little son
Even if it is only for one short second
Oh the Great Wall of Insein Prison

Please stop ignoring me
As if you've forgotten that I am here
How I wish that I was someone called 'David Copperfield'
I heard he could make trains and lorries vanished
Perhaps I can then make you disappeared
Oh the Great Wall of Insein Prison

How I wish that I was the Superman too
With all that super power and speed
I could just glide over you
Just for a little reassurance of seeing my son
Oh the Great Wall of Insein Prison

I also wish that I could have help from the Lord Sakka
who would not only make sure that I see my son
but also assist all of them to escape from this notorious hell
Oh the Great Wall of Insein Prison

In real life, I can only cry
For I am not David Copperfield, Superman nor Lord Sakka
I just cry and cry and cry
For I would like to see my dear little son
Oh the Great Wall of Insein Prison

I have come from a long long way
just to have a chance to see my son's face
And now I will have to go home, without being given any chance
I must go now but please do remember
I will come here again soon
And this time, could you please let me see my beloved son
Oh the Great Wall of Insein Prison

(The original poem was written by Daw Yay, the mother of U Gumbira, the noble monk, who led the monks protest in September and subsequently arrested on 4th November 2007. Nay Chi U, our contributor interpreted it with the best intention)

This article was originally posted on this Link http://tineyintharvoice.blogspot.com/ (click on the photo to enlarge to read the article in Burmese)

This report was originally broadcast from VOA Burmese program.

Heading: Some members of new generation youth organization "Generation Wave" distributed political awareness leaflets in some part of the Rangoon.(24 November 2007 from VOA Burmese program.)

It looks like everything is back to normal in Burma due to the merciless crackdown by Burmese Junta on Democracy Uprising which happened in the month of September and October. But in reality, there are some political activities start appearing here and there in the month of November. Such as distributing "Political Awareness Leaflets, Pasted anti military junta poster on the wall or spray painting anti Military Junta slogan on the wall.

Yesterday(23 November 2007) some part of Yangon(Rangoon) , there were distributing of Anti Junta leaflets said some local residence of Yangon.

There are a lot of plain clothes Junta Agents and militia were posted on the Roads. One Yangon residence said no one is trust each other on the road, besides that yesterday at several places some youth distributing leaflets. Based on the information got from the some sources, The Youth Movement which was formed after the September Saffron Revolution organized "co-ordinated" activities at precise timing.

One of the member of the "Generation Wave" youth movement organization, Ko XXXX XXXX(name omitted for personal safety of the youth) explained: "People's President Organization and our "Generation Wave" youth movement Organization joined together and carried out distributing and spreading of (Anti junta)Leaflets.

Following is the interview between one of the "Generation Wave" youth movement member and VOA Burmese Program Correspondent U Thar Nyunt Oo:

Q(VOA): What are you mentioning in the leaflets

Ans: Inside the leaflets, it mentioned about:

  1. For the safety of all the monks to practice their daily routine in monastery.
  2. For the safety of all the monks to study the Buddhist religion.
  3. To Fulfil the basic necessity such as food, clothing and shelter for the general Public.
  4. Establishment of REAL Democracy(in Burma).

Q(VOA): which are the places did you distrubute the leaflets.

Ans:The leaflets were spread at the 7 places in Yangon:

  1. Yuzana Shopping Plaza.
  2. Mingala Market.
  3. Near the Thein Phyu Street Post office.
  4. At the corner of Bo Aung Gyaw St. and Anawratha Road.
  5. Near Kan Taw Min Gala Park
  6. Bahan St 3
  7. Tamwe Roundabout.

Q(VOA): What are the response of General Public?

Ans: The response of the public was as he continue to explain: :some people took the leaflets with great Interest but some even though they took the leaflets, they are scare to death and it looks like they didn't dare to take it at all.

Q(VOA): Is there any arrest?

Ans: There were no arrest because we organized to distribute and spread these leaflets within 1 to 3 hrs at all the place at the same time so that when the Junta got the information, may be it is too late for Junta to "React" so there were no arrest.

VOA Comment: Even though new generation youth are very active with the movement, some people are still so scare and fear till today. But we can say, after the September and October movement, more youth are start interesting in politic more than before.

Please click on the picture to enlarge to read the poem in original Burmese language

(This poem in Burmese was sent to me by my C-box friend "Happy" who ask me to translate into English)

(N.B. The words put in the bracket are my own words help you to understand what the Author means)

HEY YOU...... STAND UP!!!
Why are you wasting your time by just quarrelling with ever gossip spreading, wrong information publishing lying Junta mouth piece media and radio?

Why are you wasting your time by just arguing what is fair or what is not fair with your talk only?

Instead you should participate (with us in saffron revolution)
Instead of showing of your courage just behind the scene, why can't you participate with us?

Instead of just reading Anti-Junta articles and get a satisfactiond, you should participate?
Instead of JUST listening VOA, BBC broadcasting and clapping hand, you shouldparticipate?

If you don't make use of your Knowledge and Philosophy practically(for Free Burma cause), it is such a waste..

Don't just Grumble, don't just Lazy, Don't just be a critic only ... Break away from your attitude of fighting only with your mouth.

Are u just sitting at the sidewalk??

Are you going to give up your life and future just because of bribe, which promise you with the salary increment?

Are u just forget the justice and just "Chasing" for your Business interest instead? Are you squeezeing up with your life for the sake of one meal and one dish?

These are nothing (compare to Free Burma Cause)...... everyone is same as you, everyone has their own worry.... BUT .. you just think it over...

Some people are marching, some people are joining, some people are participating... (for Free Burma campaign)

Do you think you are one of the elite people, Are you waiting for the other people sympathy .. Are you expecting for the other people come and rescue you?

Nobody can rescue you and your future, You are the ONE and ONLY rescue for yourself and your future(generations).

As long as you are NOT participating, you future is still a VERY long way to go.....
and you are going to sink slowly inch by inch, centimeter by centimeter into the meaning less, worthless life under the Military Junta Iron heel.

What? What are you saying

... Are u going to make an excuse by saying you have this and you don't have that... or.....are you going to say it is not a fair and square fight?

If you, me and he participate ...it will make us feel more stronger
If more and more people join .. it will become more stronger and stronger..

A rope made out of millions of single grass strand can pull down the mighty Elephant...A wave consists of million of tiny water droplets can break the massive rock.....RIGHT?

I requested and encouraged you..HEY YOU please STAND UP - - - PLEASE STANDING UP(for the Free Burma Cause)
